Barnbougle Dunes day trips
Enjoy
a fun filled day playing golf at “the
world’s best new golf course for 2004” (the US Golfer magazine) and one of the
most exciting new courses in the world for many years. Find out what all of the fuss is about!
Cost:
$380
per person (limited to 4 people)
Includes:
airfare, green fees, transport and hire clubs (if
needed). A pro will be in attendance for the day.
Trip
details:
Departure -7.30am flight from Moorabbin, arriving at Bridport at
9.00am.
Return – 3.00pm flight from Bridport arriving
at Moorabbin 4.30pm
We fly in a 6 seater Piper Aztec, a powerful
and comfortable plane which fly’s straight from Moorabbin to the golf course
(there is an airstrip across the road) There will be 6 flying each trip so the
pilot (who plays off an 8 handicap, and is familiar with Barnbougle) plays,
enabling us to play in two groups of 3.
Pictures of the plane can be seen at

Game
details:
More often than not we will play a form of golf
called ambrose, where we chose the best ball played each shot, and then all
play from that position. It is a great
way to play as a group allowing for a good group discussion as to how best
approach each shot. However if I have a
group of experienced players they sometimes prefer to play their own game. (Each group I take down consists of golfers
of similar standards).
Your
role:
I book
everything, so all you need to do is pay the $380 and turn up at Moorabbin
airport at 7.00am on the day with your clubs, if you have them and they need to
weigh less than 12kg, so a carry bag in necessary. It is a public course so there are no dress restrictions, however
do bring some warm clothing incase the weather turns nasty.
About
Barnbougle Dunes:
Opened in Dec 2004 this course is like no other
in Australia, and will quickly become known as one of the worlds great
courses. It has a collection of some of
the best holes in the country and is built on the most beautiful dunes land
imaginable. It is visually stunning,
and boasts three major water borders, with the fairways winding alongside the
Trent tidal estuary, the Great Forester river, and Andersons Bay. Links courses are defined as being built on
strips of land which link the sea with more fertile land, often set amongst
dunes. This is the best possible
terrain for golf, and Barnbougle is built on this type of terrain.
A day at Barnbougle Dunes is an experience you
will never forget.
What
they are saying:
What it promises, is a golfing experience
unmatched in Australia and one equal to anything in the world. It is a place of spectacular beauty and the
holes themselves are a wonderful collection of the best the game has to
offer. Finally we have a course to
challenge Royal Melbourne as Australia’s premier course. (Mike Clayton -
Designer)
Barnbougle will stun the golfing world. (Darius Oliver - Golf Writer)
Barnbougle is awesome; easily top three in
Australia. (Paul Daley -
